IR35 - Personal Service Companies Intermediaries Legislation
Anyone reading HM Revenue & Customs' website, who was running their own service company (i.e. providing their services to their customers), could easily believe that they were caught by the IR35 rules and therefore have to pay almost their entire companies' earnings out to themselves as salary, subject to tax and national insurance, leaving virtually nothing in the company for investment to grow and develop. Fortunately, this is far from the case. Only a minority of personal service companies are really caught by the IR35 rules.
We don't want to re-invent the wheel as there is already more than enough information about IR35 available on the internet, and we therefore provide the following links to what we believe are very useful, informative and authoritative links.
Contractor UK - For details about IR35, who is really affected, its consequences, including links to online calculators.
QDOS Consulting - Claims to be the UK's leading authority on IR35 status, providing contract review services to help you decide if the legislation applies to you or not, and also insurance products to protect you in the event of challenge from HM Revenue & Customs.
Professional Contractors Group - "PCG was formed in May 1999 to provide independent contractors and consultants with a representative voice in opposition to the original IR35 proposals. Since then, we have evolved from being a single-issue campaign group to being a fully fledged, not-for-profit professional body representing knowledge workers who choose to be self-employed."
We don't want to fob you off by referring you to other websites and would be delighted to hear from any clients or prospective clients who feel that they may be affected by IR35, so that we can offer our personal services tailored to your own particular circumstances.
Private limited companies for contractors and consultants are one of our specialities and we have helped dozens of clients deal with the questions arising from the IR35 legislation.
We offer a range of services for contractors and consultants, including payroll, VAT, accounts and tax preparation, all at very competitive rates, and as we don't use call centres or offshore processing houses, we feel that we can offer a far more personal and quality service than the larger specialist firms who have hundreds or thousands of contractors and to whom you are just a file number!
